Russia and India Discuss Joint Aviation Projects

Participants of the meeting of the Indo-Russian Subgroup on Aviation identified the main areas of future cooperation, according to the press service of the United Aircraft Corporation. The Russian delegation was headed by Mikhail Pogosyan, President of the United Aircraft Corporation. Dr R.K. Tyagi, Chairman of Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd., headed the Indian side.

“The Indo-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation is one of the most important elements in military-technical cooperation projects between Russia and India. This work allows us to concentrate on the development of specific solutions relating to the implementation of advanced technologies and innovative forms of organizing production cooperation. Together with our colleagues from Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. and the Indian Air Force, we defined the main focus of our efforts. In addition, we analyzed all the technical and organizational factors that could affect the operational characteristics of our aircraft and developed a joint operating plan,” Mr. Pogosyan stated.

The two sides also discussed the licensed production, maintenance, and modernization of Su-30MKI, modernization of the Indian Air Force’s MiG-29s, development and production of AL-55-I aviation motors for the Indian Air Force.
