Spain sells fleet of Mirage ( fighter-bombers Mirage F.1 – approx. “VP”) to Argentina for 10 million f.st. (according to other sources, from 132 to 145 million f.st. – approx. “VP”), the British newspaper Portal Express reported . This deal is signed amid the ongoing diplomatic standoff between Argentina and Britain over the disputed Falkland Islands (Malvinas).
Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner personally approved a contract that will give the country the opportunity to attack the island with guided laser-guided bombs. Under the contract, Argentina will receive 20 combat aircraft from Air Force base in Albacete in Spain, which will go to Tandill Argentine Air Force Base (located to the south of Buenos Aires).
