Russia Ready to Supply India With Required Number of Helicopters

Earlier in the day, media reported that India’s Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) had approved the purchase of 48 Mi-17V-5 helicopters worth $1.1 billion from Russia for the needs of the country’s armed forces.

 Russian Helicopters company is ready to produce the required amount of helicopters for India, the company’s press service said Wednesday.

“For Russian Helicopters, India is a strategic partner. For our part, we are ready to provide customers with new helicopters within the required period of time,” the company’s press service told RIA Novosti.

Between 2012 and 2015, Russia delivered 148 military transport helicopters to India, the company said last week. Moscow expects to send another three helicopters to India by the end of the year to fulfill the contract signed between Moscow and New Delhi in 2008.The Mi-17V-5 is part of Russian Helicopters’ Mi-8/17 family of helicopters, designed for the transportation of personnel. It can be used in search and rescue operations and be equipped with weapons.

Serbia to Purchase Two Russian-Made Military Helicopters

Serbia is seeking to purchase two Russian military helicopters from Russia in the near future, the Russian Helicopters company’s deputy CEO for sales, Grigory Kozlov, said Wednesday.

In August, Serbian Defense Minister Bratislav Gasic announced that Belgrade expected to reach an agreement with Russia on the purchase of two Mi-17 and Mi-171 helicopters for the Serbian Army.The Mi-17 and Mi-171 helicopters were designed for the transportation of personnel and cargo. The helicopters come from the Mi-8/Mi-17 family of helicopters that, according to the company, are among the world’s most popular Russian-made helicopters.

“Serbia is planning to buy two Mi-17 helicopters from Russia soon. The number of helicopters may be increased in the next few years,” Kozlov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

India’s Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) has ratified the acquisition of 48 MI-17 V5 military transport helicopters from Russia, reports Indiandefensenews.

“The DAC, chaired by Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar today approved the chopper procurement,”reported the website on Wednesday.

In July, Russia’s state weapons exporter Rosoboronexport said it was ready to supply India.

In 2008, Rosoboronexport signed a contract with India for 80 MI-17 V5 helicopters, which were delivered in 2011-2013.

The CEO of military contractor Russian Helicopters Alexander Mikheev told RIA Novosti in February that by that time India had received 121 MI-17 V5 helicopters, adding that Russia is ready to deliver as many as India wants.

India currently has more than 300 Mi-8 and Mi-17 helicopters in its fleet.

Mi-17 is a medium multi-purpose helicopter, the export version of the Mi-8. The versatility and high performance characteristics make it one of the most popular Russian-made helicopters. The MI-17 V5 variant is manufactured to meet Indian requirements.

The first deliveries of Russian helicopters to India were in the 1950s. Initially India received the Mi-4, then the Mi-8/17. The Indian military also use heavy-lift Mi-26, combat Mi-25/35 and maritime Ka-25, Ka-28 and Ka-31 helicopters.




Russia to supply 7 Mi-171 helicopters to Bangladesh

MOSCOW, August 24. /TASS/. Russia will supply six Mil Mi-171Sh military and transport helicopters and one Mi-171E rotocraft to Bangladesh under a contract signed in April this year, Russian state arms seller Rosoboronexport First Deputy CEO Ivan Goncharenko said on Monday.

“A contract was signed in April 2015 on the delivery of six Mi-171Sh military and transport helicopters, and also one Mi-171E transport helicopter in its Salon option,” Goncharenko said ahead of the MAKS-2015 air show opening outside Moscow.

It was previously reported that Russia and Bangladesh had agreed in April 2015 on the delivery of five Mi-171Sh helicopters. Rosoboronexport said Russia would provide Bangladesh a $1 billion loan for the purchase of Russian helicopters.

Rosoboronexport said in June 2015 the deliveries of new helicopters were under way.

Russia’s Rosoboronexport to supply over 100 helicopters abroad in 2015

MOSCOW, August 24. /TASS/. Russia’s arms exporter Rosoboronexport plans to supply more than 100 helicopters to foreign customers this year, the company’s first deputy director general, Ivan Goncharenko has said.

“In particular, more than 60 various helicopters have been already delivered this year. In total, foreign customers will receive over 100 helicopters until the year-end,” Goncharenko said ahead of the MAKS-2015 air show held near Moscow.

MAKS-2015 will be held in Zhukovsky outside Moscow between August 25 and 30. More than 600 Russian organizations and over 150 foreign companies are expected to take part in the event, which will be attended by delegations from some 80 countries.

Pakistan Will Purchase Four Russian Mi-35M Helicopters



According to the Russian Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan signed a contract for Russia’s Mi-35M transport and attack helicopters.

NEW DELHI (Sputnik) — Pakistan will acquire four Russian Mi-35M helicopters, the Russian Embassy in Islamabad said Thursday.

“The contract for four Mi-35M transport and attack helicopters was signed late last week,” an embassy spokesperson told RIA Novosti.

According to the spokesperson, the agreement was reached between Russia’s state arms exporter Rosoboronexport and Pakistan’s Ministry of Defense.

In July, Deputy CEO of Russian Helicopters Andrey Shibitov said a decision to supply Mi-35M helicopters to Pakistan to fight terrorism could be made in the near future.In September 2014, Rosoboronexport’s deputy director general, Sergey Goreslavsky, said Pakistan was seeking to purchase several Mi-35M helicopters to combat terrorism. Russia and Pakistan signed a deal to collaborate on defense two months later.

The Mi-24/25/35 family, with capabilities of landing and transporting up to eight paratroopers, is in current use by the Russian, Brazilian, Venezuelan and Azerbaijani armed forces.

Russia and India are close to creation of JV for the production of helicopters Ka226-T


Russia and India will discuss joint production of submarines, planes and tanks, Russian Ambassador to India Alexander Kadakin told Sputnik on Friday.

The Russian ambassador said that one of the more interesting projects is the construction of multirole Ka-226 helicopters.

“The proposals for construction of ships and submarines, production of the most recent tanks and other military technical production, our Indian partners are interested in, are discussed,” Kadakin said.
