Syria: Hundreds of Terrorists Surrender, Thousands of Civilians Leave Aleppo City

     14.12.2016      The Russian Peace Coordination Center in Syria announced on Wednesday that almost 6,000 more civilians have been evacuated from the Eastern districts of Aleppo city in last 24 hours, while over 350 more militants have turned themselves in to the government forces in the city.

“(At least) 5,992 civilians, including 2,210 children, have been evacuated from areas of Aleppo under the control of militants with the assistance of the Russian Reconciliation Center,” the Russian center said in a statement, adding “They have all been placed in humanitarian centers where they are receiving food and medical assistance”.

“As many as 366 militants have laid down their arms and left for the Western part of the city. According to the decision by the Syrian president, 329 militants were granted amnesty,” the statement read.

According to the center, as many as 16 hectares (almost 40 acres) of Eastern Aleppo territory were demined by Russian sappers in the same period of time.

Russia’s military cleared 45 buildings of explosive devices and demined 16 hectares in Eastern Aleppo.

“The Russian servicemen of the international mine action center continued the humanitarian demining of quarters in the Eastern part of Aleppo liberated from militants,” the center said, adding, “They also demined 8.7 kilometers of roads.”

The Russian Center announced on Tuesday that over 110,000 civilians had been evacuated from the Eastern districts of Aleppo city since the beginning of the Syrian army’s operation to liberate the city from Jeish al-Fatah terrorists

According to the Russian Center, some 110,000 civilians, including 44,000 children had been evacuated since the beginning of the Syrian government forces’ offensives to liberate the city.

More than 7,000 people also returned to their homes, the center added.

Based on the Russian centers’ reports, over 2,500 militants in Aleppo laid down arms and turned themselves in to the Damascus officials.
